Humans of Israel combines photojournalism with digital storytelling to give a sense of the diversity behind the people living in Israel. With intriguing, thought-provoking photographs and human stories, the project puts a human face on an extraordinary place and challenges preconceptions of Israeli citizens by communicating a sense of our shared humanity. The Humans of Israel offers a fresh look at the rich and remarkably distinct lives of Israelis and showcases Israel’s diversity, multiculturalism, and vibrant civil society.
Photographer, native Tel Avivian, and TEDx speaker, Erez Kaganovitz is the person behind the Humans of Tel Aviv, Humans of Israel, and Humans of the Holocaust projects. Through his work, Erez helps bridge a cultural gap in society both within and outside of Israel. His compelling work brings understanding, emotional connection, and unity to viewers around the world.
An exhibition showcasing personal artifacts brought to America by survivors of the Holocaust and other genocide. Exploring the relationship between objects and their meaning to the original owner and subsequent significance. Includes oversized photographs by renowned documentarian Jim Lommasson with handwritten responses by survivors or their family members.
The objects featured in Stories of Survival are as everyday as a baby doll and a black suitcase—as symbolic as a young mother’s cookbook and a wedding announcement—saved by survivors from genocides around the world, including Armenia, Bosnia, Cambodia, Iraq, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Syria.
