We’ve tried using logic, data, and education. We’ve taught about the Holocaust and explained what constitutes antisemitism—again and again. Maybe we need to think differently. Dr. Pamela Paresky will discuss a new possible paradigm for conceptualizing the current increase in antisemitism and how to combat it. Dr. Paresky is a social psychologist and Associate in the psychology department at Harvard University. Her work on antisemitism has appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian, The Jewish Journal, Politico, and more.

Pamela Paresky is a social psychologist with a clinical background. Her project, Habits of a Free Mind: Psychology for Democracy and The Good Life, is a toolkit for engaging across lines of difference without feeling traumatized and without dehumanizing others. Building on that project, she is the founder and director of the Free Mind Foundation, which fosters courageous civic engagement by creating spaces for meaningful social connection, principled dialogue, and enduring friendship.

She is an Associate in the psychology department at Harvard University and writes about various aspects of illiberalism, including censorship, campus culture, tribalism, and increasingly, antisemitism. Her work has appeared in The New York TimesThe Guardian, The Jewish Journal, Politico, The Free PressSapir, Psychology Today, and elsewhere. (For examples of her essays on Israel and antisemitism, see “Critical Race Theory and the Hyper-White Jew” in the first issue of Sapir, Schrödinger’s Trauma in Psychology Today, and the Jewish Journal cover story about October 7: Shattered.”)

Through her consulting practice, Dr. Paresky provides leadership development for individuals, families, nonprofits and businesses who seek to create optimally functioning relationships and organizations. She serves on the Advisory Council of the Free Speech Union, is a Senior Fellow at the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI), a Senior Advisor to the Open Therapy Institute (OTI), an Advisor to the Mindful Education Lab at NYU, and chairs the Advisory Council of the North American Values Institute (NAVI).

Dr. Paresky is the author of the guided journal, A Year of Kindness and was the primary researcher and in-house editor for the bestselling book, The Coddling of the American Mind by Greg Lukianoff and Jonathan Haidt. She has held various academic, policy, and advisory roles, including having taught at the University of Chicago, Johns Hopkins, and the US Air Force Academy.
