We are pleased to welcome Dr. Danielle Gurevitch, a cultural anthropologist at Bar-Ilan University in Israel and currently a distinguished visiting scholar at the University of Tulsa, where she teaches modern Hebrew for beginners.
Dr. Gurevitz will discuss: Why Hebrew? Why Now?
In recent years, Jewish students and Israel have faced rising hostility on U.S. campuses. Against this backdrop, Dr. Gurevitch believes there is no better time to launch a Hebrew Studies program and to establish a research hub dedicated to the study of memory, resilience, and cultural revival. Her talk will reflect on her professional journey, highlighting her work in building international academic collaborations and developing new programs in foreign language studies.
Professor Gurevitch specializes in comparative literature, cultural diplomacy, and the history of ideas. For the past 17 years, she has chaired The Sir Naim Dangoor Center for Universal Monotheism at Bar-Ilan University, leading international interdisciplinary initiatives that connect scholarship, cultural diplomacy, and public dialogue on Jewish and Israeli affairs. She is the author of two books, the editor of three academic volumes, numerous scholarly articles, and the chief editor of the History of Ideas series, with nine new volumes currently in preparation.
